This depends on the area as well as the particular hospital or clinic. Answers from contributors for annual salaries include:
I am an oral surgeon practicing in California who is 2.5 years out of residency. I will be pulling net gross income of $550,000 (which is pretty standard in California) after I make partner this year. Don't believe the bs you see out there where OMFS makes only 200,000. That include OMFS that work on salary for others (1-2 years out of residency, where they are making only 30% -35% of production), and OMFS in academics. Once you join partner in private practice (which can be done 1-2 years after residency), you can easily make $400,000 to 1 million+ per year net income working less than 40 hours a week. Non saturated areas such as in Midwest, you can easily make more than 1 million a year.
According to the most recent estimates from the American Dental Associations, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, on average, earn a net (pre-tax) income of approximately $360,000 annually.
Average Hourly Pay: $77.24
Average Annual Salary: $160,660
The above is too low.
