Well, the economics are a little staggering... Just the p90X system has sold about 20 million copies... that's just the DVD sets... not to mention the bars, shakes and all the other stuff that they sell just for that one program. He also has revenue streams from clients and other ventures. But lets just take a look at P90X, and just the DVD sales:
Lets make some conservative assumptions: $120 (average, they started out higher) for a set of 12 DVDs, and they have reported to have sold over 20 million copies,
this has generated $2,400,000,000 (2.4 billion) in revenue so far...
To make these sets and distribute with a bulk contract manufacturing deal and a high volume fulfillment house, and accounting for the large amount of advertising they do, credit card processing, returns and other incidentals, their profit margin is at least 50% of the generated revenue, which is still $1.2 billion, but may be even more. Assuming that he gets even one percent of the profits (which would be a terrible deal for him, I'm assuming he gets more) then he has already made $12 million... on DVDs alone. For one project. Yep, Mr. Horton is doing just fine... time to make a workout video!
