Ghawar oil field in Saudi Aravia, discovered in 1948. Rand of URR is 66~100 gb
An area below which there is a geological structure in which oil has been trapped and accumulated and from which it can be extracted by man.
Oil field produced more than 100,000 barrels of oil per day.
At the beginning of 2011, North Dakota was producing about 400,000 barrels/day. Continental Resources' CEO estimates that they have drilled only about 15% of the wells that will be needed to develop the entire Bakken formation.
Well, at the rate the United States uses Oil, We have around 100 years of oil left.
The BP oil spill can refer to either the BP oil spill of March 2, 2006 in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. BP oil spill of April 20, 2010 in the Macondo Prospect oil field in the Gulf of Mexico, on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig.

The 2010 BP oil spill is a current oil spill, south east of Lousiana, in the Macondo Prospect oil field, in the Gulf Of Mexico. Between 12,000 and 100,000 barrels of oil are estimated to be leaking every day (.5 - 4.2 million US gallons, or 1.9 - 16 million liters) The oil drilling rig, named Deepwater Horizon, was nearly destroyed after a buildup of natural gas in the oil line. An explosion resulted, causing 11 people to be killed and breaking the pipe sending millions of gallons of oil a day spilling into the Gulf of Mexico.
The broken oil well pipe is located in a place called the Macondo Prospect oil field which is located approximately 40 miles (64 kilometers) off the southeastern coast of the US state of Louisiana. The broken part of the well is located approximately 5,000 ft (1500 meters) or not quite 2 miles below the surface of the ocean. The oil spill is drifting mainly into the coastal areas of Louisiana but it may also drift into the coastlines of the other Gulf states of Alabama, Missippi and Florida.
The Macondo oil spill isn't still spewing oil. It was officially capped on September 19th 2010. It spewed oil for 3 whole months.
The 'Deepwater Horizon oil spill', also called the 'BP Oil Spill', the 'Gulf of Mexico oil spill' or the 'Macondo blowout'... ---- Wikipedia
In Alaska they prospect a variety of things including gold, oil, jade, and copper.
The oil stop flowing on July 15, 2010 as a result of the top kill. In September the Macondo well was intersected by a relief well and could be permanently killed with a cement plug. This occurred on September 19. See relarted link.
There have been many oil spills in history; see related questions: The BP Gulf of Mexico/Macondo Blowout/Deepwater Horizon oil spill well blow out and subsequent spill began on April 20, 2010.
Macondo was about ~20 times the "size" of Valdez by oil volume. On a BOE basis, you could make that at least 40 times, but most of those added Barrels Oil Equivalent dissolved into the water column, as gas does at those pressures and temps. Valdez was, by definition, essentially all oil, as it was in a tanker. Even so, Valdez likely caused more environmental damage, though less economic damage, since the Gulf has been leaking oil at rate of 4 times the Valdez each year for millions of years, while numerous archea, microbes and chemosynthetic critters have evolved to eat the oil/gas, unlike in Prince W. Sound, where slicks, oil on the shore, etc are very rare. Oil/gas, slicks, oil on the shore, etc are very common in the Gulf of Mex. It's even possible that the oil/gas added to the total biota in the Gulf, since it is food for many. Eventually, tiny things get eaten by bigger things, eventually there could be more fish, but no one really knows. No baselines, difficult to measure. And all the numbers herein have large +/- uncertainties. See "Oil in the Sea III for more info. (Actually, the ongoing annual disaster known as the "Dead Zone" is much worse than Macondo, but no one will support the proposed legislation to stop it, since the Mississippi is America's central sewer pipe.) There are large oil findings in the Bakken Oil Field in North Dakota, however, there is not much oil found in South Dakota.
