It depends on what you are trying to do. If you are tyring to maintain a lean musclar body, you should buy any protein (multiple proveders) with 40gms per serving, low fat and low carb. Make sure to not exceed 50grms within 2 hours, because the body is only able to process that amount. In gaining the "weight", you should make sure to take a gram of protein for every pound you weigh.

Calorie is a measurement of the energy it takes to burn fat, protein, carbohydrates, and alcohol. So if you intake protein your taking in Calories. You don't choose one or the other.

It takes ~4 Calories to burn 1 gram of protein or 1 gram Carbohydrates (to include sugar)

It takes ~9 Calories to burn 1 gram of fat

It takes ~7 Calories to burn 1 gram of alcohol.

If you ate 10 grams of fat, you would need more energy to burn that fat that if you ate 10 grams of protein.

When you say gain weight: if you eat more fat, you'll gain weight quicker. If you want more muscle, then you would do well to get more of your Calories from protein, but ONLY if you are working out. Working out tears the fibers in your muscles. As they break and separate, protein connects the broken muscles healing it and making your muscles bigger. If you want those muscles to be more defined, then you have to burn more body fat and so you need to do more cardio (although bigger muscles demand more Calories, so that helps). When you do more cardio, your body demands more fuel for that energy. This causes more of that fat to burn so it can fuel your work out. Burning that fat, defines those muscles.

It isn't a matter of protein. Weight is based on calories consumed - calories burned. One pound of weight is equivalent to 3500 'calories' (or actually Kcal). So you have to eat 3500 more calories than you burn to gain a pound, and burn 3500 more than you eat to lose a pound.
