Yes and no. You cannot but stock in the "New GM" (the company that just came out of bankruptcy), but you can buy stock in the company that was GM (but why would you want to?).

The GM Common stock was exchanged for GM Liquidation Fund Stock which was the Corporation that was formed from all the factories, properties and equipment that the new GM did not need to produce cars and trucks in the new GM corporation. The new stock was being traded on the stock exchange for between $1.00 and $2.00 a share immediately after the change because the public including the holders of the stock did not realize what it represented and they thought the stock would rise in value as GM improved under the new reorganization. In reality the stock was worthless, I know because a pretty chunk of it.
