Polar bears depend on the sea ice so that they can travel and hunt for food. During the time of the year when there is no sea ice, they nearly starve because they are unable to hunt. You could say that the sun will affect the polar bears by melting the ice earlier and letting it freeze over again later each year. However, that would be inaccurate because the sun isn't what's causing global warming. And like nearly all animals and all plants, polar bears need the sunlight because it feeds plankton, which feed the fish, which feed the seals, and in turn, the seals feed the polar bears. So, to sum it up, it's greenhouse gas emissions that will affect the survival of polar bears, not the sun, which they, like all animals, need in order to live.

∙ 12y agoTo my knowledge, they aren't. Sun bear is a separate type of bear that lives in Southeast Asia, and is the smallest member of the order Ursae. Grizzlies are very big bears, only the Kodiak being bigger.
