In the nature uranium exist only as compounds; approx. 200 uranium minerals are known today. In the US: New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, and Utah. Canada has even larger supplies.
In the western states from Texas to Arizona and as far north as Colorado and Wyoming. Most good quality uranium ore in these locations is mixed with vanadium ore, and in the early days reworking vanadium mine tailings was an effective way to obtain uranium.
The density of pure uranium metal is 19,1 g/cm3.
Uranium is extracted from ores, from mines. But be sure that uranium (of course in very low concentrations) exist around us in ocean waters and drinking water, in granite and coal, in soils and phosphates, also in your body etc.
Uranium is a silvery-grey metal in both solid and liquid state, However on exposure to air it produces a black uranium oxide on its surface, which would happen much faster to liquid uranium than to solid uranium.
Now, no mining.
