In a direct democracy, such as in Ancient Greece, the citizens have all power, and everything is done by majority rule. The problem with this is that the over-excited mass often overrules the minority's rights. In a representative democracy, or a republic, the people's power is balanced by allowing the representative to fight for their constituency's interests while protecting the minorities.
I would say as much as possible, because every little bit helps. Apart from that, it would depend on their socio-economic status and general surroundings as to what kind of science knowledge and how much they should know of it.
Representative democracy is the most popular form of democracy worldwide. In this system, citizens elect representatives to make decisions and pass laws on their behalf, allowing for a more manageable governance structure in larger populations. This format is prevalent in many countries, including the United States and much of Europe, as it balances direct citizen participation with practical governance.

Well, in the bible it talks about Jesus' voice as a still small voice inside of you. If you think you hear it, then most likely you did. You must have heard something that was out of the ordinary or you wouldn't be questioning it. This might not be the answer you're looking for, but if you hear his voice, you will know deep down you did. If you are looking for further information or better clues, perhaps turn to the bible, or your church pastor? Or ask Him to show you if he did or didnt speak to you. Sorry if I didn't help much, but I did my best.
I would argue that direct democracy is not successful at all. In a true democracy every legal citizen would have an equal say in EVERY decision made. What we have here in the United States is not a true democracy. We have a mix of direct democracy and elected representatives. Some drawbacks to a complete democracy would include; decisions take alot of time and in times of war we need quick action, my ten year old brother would have just as much say in the functionings of our government as a US senator, and it would be a tyrannic rule by the majority-51% of the population could force the other 49% to do whatever they please.
Democracy happened in Athens when the king got too much power. They moved from a monarchy to an aristocracy and then to a direct democracy.
