A delta starter supplies what ever the supplied voltage to the line side of the contactor is. The inrush current is usually 300% of the full load amperage of the motor.

Edit to above answer:

Actually the question is for a Wye-Delta Starter (Wye=Star). There are two contactors, one in Wye configuration and one with Delta. The Wye is used to start and the Delta for run. This is a reduced voltage start scheme. Though the line supply voltage remains the same, for instance 480VAC, the phase voltage at the motor will be different for the Wye:

V(phase) = V(line)/1.732

In a Delta V(phase) = V(line)

So the Phase Voltage during the start will be 277VAC and then when the motor is spinning, usually after a set time delay, the Wye contactor drops out and the Delta contactor kicks in so that Phase Voltage is now the full 480VAC.

What is a soft starter?

A soft start is a starter that bring a motor from the starting point of a slow speed in to a multiple speed that can be programmed in the starter Imagine you have a big plant in your factory, the voltage will go down/up when the plant start/stop, cause the sharp start/stop The soft starter is controlling AC motor in soft start/stop to eliminate such problems. How much KW range can be use star-delta starter?

The use of a star delta starter is for motor control only and not resistive heating loads. This type of starter is used to dampen the inrush current by using a lower voltage to start the motor.

How does a stater work on a engine?

The starter, upon activation, has a gear that is forced onto the engine's flywheel's gear to turn the motor over. Upon engine start or release of the start voltage the starter gear disengages.

How does vehicle start?

it start by starter motor

What does a car starter motor solenoid do?

When opened by the starter switch, it sends electricity from the battery to the starter motor to start the car.

If truck wont start and Battery tested good is it a Bad starter?

It could be a bad starter or a bad solenoid.... If you turn the key, but motor will not turn, listen for clicking... if it clicks, possibly bad starter. best option would be to beg steal or borrow a voltmeter and measure voltage at starter motor when key is turned......

What is magnetic line voltage motor starter?

A motor starter is a contactor (heavy duty relay) which acts as a remote-controlled on/off switch between the supply and the motor. Its operating coil is energised through an auxiliary stop/start circuit. It also incorporates overload function which will automatically disconnect the motor in the event of a sustained overload current.

How do you start a motor without a starter?

By the use of auto transformer and bridge rectifier we can start dc motor.

2006 Honda civic won't start clicks?

bad solenoid in the starter or insufficient voltage to the starter

How do you start single phase induction motor?

capacitive start motors start by themselves however a normal single phase induction motor requires a starter motor to 'kick-start' the motor into action.
