Keep it in rich soil in a pot with good drainage, and water it once a week with enough water to lightly soak the soil. Keep it in decent light and it will flourish. A couple months ago, my mom gave me two philodendrons, each with two or three leaves, that she had been keeping in water on her kitchen counter for a couple years, and they are flourishing, both have grown another stem or two and tens of leaves more.
