You're putting on pounds now because you're about to go through puberty (you're body will change and you will grow a lot). If you're concerned about weight gain try to keep eating healthy foods (mostly fruits and vegetables), avoid fast food, and join a sport. You don't need to lose weight.

it is not okay, if she is 17 and weighs 85 pounds she has a weight problem and should see a doctor as soon as possible. they would probably say she is under weight.
