Here in the United States, the cost of the panels runs about $3.75 a watt, so the cost would be about $18,750.00 if you are planning on hanging them yourself.

Remember that the rating of the panel is not what you will ever actually see from them. A panel is rated at full open circuit voltage and short circuit current, so you will have about 20% less power, in full sunlight, than the rated power.

My panels are each 75 watt units. They can produce 56 watts at full sunlight. In Wisconsin, I receive the equavilent sunlight of two hours each day (average). This means my 75 watt panels will give me about 112 watts of power each day when they are new. Panels produce less in warm weather and after a few years in direct sunlight.

If you ignore rebate programs, your panels should break even, in most cases in about 25 years, assuming the current price of power.
