This depends on the damage that has been done to the computer already. Any good antivirus should be able to remove them. I recommend Kaspersky. The total cost could be all the data on your computer, any personal information on your computer including bank account numbers and other targets of identity theft.

Be careful though of antivirus scams. There are many "false reports" of viruses, or virus hoaxes, that tell you to delete a file from your computer, but in fact they are simply strangely named system files that are either required for the system to run, or are needed by important programs such as your computer's built in firewall software. Any reputable Antivirus program will not delete these files, so your best bet is simply to purchase a good antivirus.
