One estimate says it cost 10 million dollars to build, therefore, if you convert that from the cost in 1895 to the cost in 2007, it would be just under 250 million dollars, or a quarter of a billion.
Built at a cost of $5 million dollars between 1890 and 1895, and another $4 million to furnish it. This includes 4 acre footprint home, landscaping, and a total 128,000 acres of land. To do this today (2009 dollars), it would cost you $230 million dollars.
The Biltmore Estate in Ashville, North Carolina, is the largest privately owned home in America. It was built by George Vanderbilt in 1895 subsequent to his inheritance of about $12 million. Vanderbilt always refused to disclose the cost of construction. Modern estimates place the cost as high as $10 million. The estate was opened to the public by his daughter, Cornelia, in 1930. The original construction included 250 rooms, a swimming pool, a Bowling alley, multiple kitchens, an elevator, telephones and electric lighting. The property consists of 125,000 acres with landscaping designed by Frederic law Olmstead.
Around $300,000,000
It would be easy because we have more advanced things to build them.
2nd Husband was Vivian Francis Bulkeley Johnson from England, he was much older than Cornelia and died a few years later and then Cornelia married a much younger man William Goodsir who left his wife and family for Cornelia. In 1976 Cornelia died and soon after William went back to his family but ultimately killed himself and he is buried in Cornelias plot in the UK. Cornelia's wildness was legend and she was after the men, she rebelled, changed her name at times to Mary or Nilcha, dyed her hair wild colors etc and never returned to the USA or Biltmore after she left in early 1930s. She tried to sell Biltmore House since she was the owner but her mother saved the house and Cornelias two sons inherited the estate and one still owns it today.
It depends on the estate. All estates have at least one - the house for the estate's owner. If that house was relatively small (relatively meaning 5000-7500 square feet - remember, we're talking about very rich people here) there would be a number of additional houses for guests and servants. Depending on how rich the owner was, there could be twenty or thirty of these smaller houses. The other end of the spectrum is George Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate, in Asheville, North Carolina. Biltmore only ever had one house, but the house has 250 rooms and the servants' quarters are on the top floor.
It would cost approximately $500 million to build a replica Titanic in 2016.
The Sears Tower was renamed Willis Tower on July 16, 2009. I'm not sure how much it would cost to build today but I know it is worth over $1 Billion USD today.
It will take about 350 years.
chocolate and chicken butts
$1,300,000
It would cost about $129,269.71.
Certainly, but he would also be envied, despised, and sabotaged because in today's society we build heroes and then tear them down.
About a billion bucks.
Yes the Biltmore Inn is a good place to stay. It is in a good location, not a bad neighborhood and the rates are very reasonable. I would recommend staying at this hotel for the night.
