However he replaces this with the personification of autocatic leadership, and then spoils the whole thing by simply replacing one corrupt dynasty, the Bourbons, with his own tawdry relatives. The revolution was to get rid of the monarchy and create a democracy that was fair to the people of France and didn't favor nobles and clergymen. Napoleon may not have reinstated the old monarchy, but he took away the democratic government and created, in essense, a new monarchy.
