How nitrogen oxides are produced in petrol engine?

There are N in fuel. In very high heat N is oxidized into its maximum

A fuel contains no nitrogen but nitrogen oxides are produced when it is burned why?

Nitrous oxide (N2O), a dangerous greenhouse gas, is one of the by-products of burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), especially petrol in the internal combustion engine (The other by-products are carbon dioxide and methane). Nitrous oxide is produced at high temperatures, so car manufacturers are trialling methods of recycling the exhaust gases through the engine. This lowers the combustion temperature and less N2O is produced.

What are the products formed when fuel such as petrol burns completely?

Mainly Water (H2O), Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), but mainly the first two. And if the petrol is broken down incompletely (without oxygen) Carbon Monoxide (CO) is produced instead of CO2.A:Carbon dioxide and water (mainly) but in case of incomplete combustion carbon monoxide and carbon (soot) too. The pollutants produced by petrol combustion are mainly nitrogen oxides and unburnt petrol.

Why is petrol not good?

petrol produces 3 prominent harmful gases when burned in an internal combustion engine. * nitrogen oxides * carbon monoxide * unburnt hydrocarbons. carbon monoxide is a well known poison that replaces oxygen in the blood that results with the brain being starved of oxygen. nitrogen oxides are less well known, at high concentrations they can cause respiratory diseases but their biggest effect is that at helping to cause photochemical smog, a reaction that takes place in the atmosphere envolving free radicals, sunlight and NO2 gases that produce a very unhealthy fog such as which can be seen over Bejing. unburnt hydrocarbons are often carcenogenic. catalytic converters try to reduce the quantites of the first two by creating CO2 and nitrogen however CO2 is obviously a huge contributor to the well kown green house effect.

What is a hybrid produced from?

A Hybrid is a combination of a small petrol engine and a small electric engine. The electric engine does the driving and the petrol engine is only used when you need more power to either accelerate or charge the batteries

When gasoline is burned in an engine gasoline evaporated?

No - petrol combustion is a rapid oxidisation which is an exothermal reaction... it creates heat, and heated air expands. The fuel (petrol) is made of a composition mostly comprising hydrogens, carbons, a little sulphur and nitrogen. Air contains mostly nitrogen, and about 1/5th of air is oxygen capable of causing oxidation in the right circumstance. The gasoline/petrol fuel is changed in this chemical reaction, broken into component parts and reforms as Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide, oxides of sulphur, oxides of nitrogen and a fair bit of oxides of hydrogen... or water vapour (the only non-nasty part of the exhaust) although this water is superheated steam at that point. A poorly tuned petrol engine will also spit out unburned petrol as a vapour only where not enough oxygen was present at ignition. That is the only part of petrol that evaporates and only when it is not working right.

Why is sulfur dioxide produced in a petrol engine?

because when petrol burns it produces sulfur dioxide

Why does your car have bad gas fumes?

it has fumes because when you drive your car is burning the petrol/diesel you fill up with which results in it producing nitrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides.
