Obesity puts more strain on the internal organs. The heart needs to work harder to pump blood around the body. There is more fat cells in the bloodstream - which can cause blockages in arteries leading to heart-attacks. The lungs have to work harder to carry the excess weight around - leading to respiratory problems. It's also accepted that Diabetes is brought on by being overweight. Obesity also affects male fertility - and increases the risk of miscarriage. There are many other examples.
