I don't know, but there's a huge difference between just "owning a gun" and having a loaded gun on your body or within easy reach at all times. The first kind of gun owner might not have any desire or intent to use a firearm in self-defense. His or her gun might be an unloaded hunting rifle in a zippered case in the attic. Such a person would be just like any other crime victim. The person who carries a loaded and ready pistol in a holster on her belt, however, has thought about being a violent crime victim and has decided to consider using deadly force to win the encounter. People like her are rarely targeted by violent criminals, and when there is a confrontation, the armed citizen usually fights off the attackers.
Gun violence can be attributed to a combination of factors such as inadequate gun regulations, socioeconomic disparities, access to firearms, and mental health issues. Addressing these underlying issues through comprehensive gun control measures, community interventions, and mental health support could help reduce gun violence.
no
Violence, as gun deaths are a subcategory of violence.
Because the violence problem here (or anywhere else, for that matter) is not a result of guns. The violence problem in the world existed long before guns did. We want guns because they have positive uses, and getting rid of guns will not, contrary to popular belief, stop the crime and violence problem.
Guns have been around for about 1000 years. Violence has been around longer than there has been language or writing.
No
because it has lots of swearing and guns and violence
You are stating an opinion- and I have a different opinion. While guns CAN be misused, that is the person, not the gun. Guns permit a person to defend themselves without regard to how strong or how big they are. Statistics indicate that guns are used for defense FAR more often than for crime.
A gun is an inanimate object. People were violent for THOUSANDS of years before guns existed.
Recent studies in America have shown that about 11,583 people are murdered each year because of criminals with guns. About 18,783 people kill themselves with guns each year. More people die from drowning and from car accidents than gun violence each year.
