there is no cam belt on 2.2 astra its a chain, BUT beware coz these snap with no warning and have a nice price tag for repair, I have just paid out £2000.00 because mine snapped with no warning. Vauxhall say it dont need changing it should last the life of the engine but this is crap!!!!!!!!!!!!
How often do you need to change the cam belt on an Astre 1.6 club 2000 plate
every 100k mate
1.4 Eight valve engine. The water pump is the timing belt tensioner on this model. you need to slacken the pump and rotate it to tension the belt.
The belt that you refer to is a self adjusting steel belt that is inside the engine. It does not need replacement.
I think that you never need it. Because , it has no belt, it has chain instead.
100,000 miles on 1.7 dti or cdti engine
You should change the belt when it is about to wear out, which a mechanic should be able to tell you when you need to, or you can also change it more often to make sure you wont need to.
on my 06 plate astra i was told at 60 k it has to be done
its 80,000 miles on the 1.7cdti (isuzu)engine. It might be 80,000 on the 1.7cdti Fiat engine but the 1.7dti is Isuzu and chain driven - should never need changing!
Every 60,000 miles.
Astra 2.2's are chain driven instead of belt and are meant to last the life of the engine. However, there are reports of them snapping so I would get it looked at to make sure
About every 60.000 miles
