I run the filter every night for 6 to 8 hrs no matter what and make sure my skimmer has chlorine in it.......never have had bad pool water and there are days even a week of no use. If you don't filter it daily you will get sediment on the bottom and algae.
Are you sure that you mean the filter tank? and not the pump
I suppose. Was that the pressure when the filter was new of very clean? No 2 filters will be exactly the same.
Simply put, Diatomaceous Earth (DE) are the bones of tiny little animals that lived millions and millions of years ago, diatoms. This DE is used to coat the "grids" inside the DE filter which captures and filters particles as small as 5 microns. When the filter pressure rises, the swimming pool DE filter is backwashed in the same manner as a sand filter. A slurry of DE is put into the skimmer to "recharge" or "re-coat" the grids of these swimming pool DE filters. This type of filter is effective and efficient but a little more expensive to maintain. Some call it the "water polisher" of pool filters.
Not really it may have some effect but it would be very little.
Plugged pump, very dirty filter. Do you actually mean the filter or the pump. Filter is big tank. Pump is small unit with motor attached.
Keep your pool water clean is a very challenging task. You can use some pool supplies like Dust Net, Water filter, water vacuum cleaner for remove dust from surface, etc. Keep switch on your water filter for 24/7 hrs for cleaning water or remove small dust particles from the water. Clean your water filter after every 7 days it makes clear passage through the filter, it helps your water clean regularly. If you do not clean your filter then your filter get chocked up and water will not pass through the filter. You can chlorinate you pool water it also help to keep your pool water germs free.
It makes very little difference

The "backwash knob" - usually called the handle - is located on top of the filter or just to the side of the filter on a sand filter. They could be on the very bottom of the filter or to one side of the filter but never on the pump. The filter is the large tank.
Here's a quick tip on chemically cleaning or killing the algae living in the sand in a sand filter. The next time you shock your swimming pool, poor the shock or bleach in the skimmer. This will provide a very high level of chlorine in the filter for a very short period of time. Long enough to kill the stubborn algae living in the filter but not long enough to hurt your plumbing.
Yes. It is important because grids inside will not get clogged by dirt, dust and other elements getting into pool and will not brake that easily. Also pool water will look better and you will have easier filter cleaning next time. Add some D.E. after backwash, too.
The pool filter, the very large tank, at or on the equipment pad. It would be located next to the pump ( that piece of equip. with the motor attached to it). The tank could be painted or unpainted ( stainless steel), it could be metal, plastic or fiberglass. k
