=every 4 years==_______________________________________==According to the Gregorian calendar, leap years occur in any year whose number is divisible by four, except:==1. "Century" years, numbers divisible by 100, are NOT leap years, except;==2. Year numbers that are evenly divisible by 400 ARE leap years.==So 1992 and 1996 were leap years because they are divisible by 4. 1900 was NOT a leap year even though it is divisible by 4, because it is divisible by 100. And 2000 WAS a leap year because it was divisible by 400.==So 2008 was, and 2012 will be, and 2016 will be. But the year 2100 will NOT be a leap year.=

24.25% of all years are leap years. There are 97 in each 400-year cycle of the Gregorian Calendar.

Years that are not evenly divisible by 4, like 2015 and 2018, are not leap years. Years that are evenly divisible by 4, like 2016 and 2020, are leap years, unless they are evenly divisible by 100, like 1900 and 2100, in which case they are not leap years unless they are also evenly divisible by 400, like 2000 and 2400.

Examples:
1900 - common year (evenly divisible by 100 but not evenly divisible by 400)
2000 - leap year (evenly divisible by 400)
2015 - common year (not evenly divisible by 4)
2016 - leap year (evenly divisible by 4 and not evenly divisible by 100)
2018 - common year (not evenly divisible by 4)
2020 - leap year (evenly divisible by 4 and not evenly divisible by 100)
2100 - common year (evenly divisible by 100 but not evenly divisible by 400)
2400 - leap year (evenly divisible by 400)
