Legislative assembly elections are those elections in which the members of the state assembly are chosen. This election is held every five years and are done in different years for each state.
The Indian National Congress emerged as the largest party in the elections of the central legislative assembly held as per the 1919 act. However, it is important to note that this was a significant increase in their representation compared to previous elections.
The first election for the New South Wales Legislative Assembly was held in 1856, while it was a Crown Colony.
1. General Elections- Held for Lok Sabha once in 5 years- Lok Sabha has 545 members- Some state legislature elections are held simultaneously with these parliamentary elections but due to early dismissal/ mid-term elections they got separated gradually.2. Mid - Term Elections- Held when an entire legislative assembly dissolves prior to completion of full 5 year term.3. By - Elections- When any one person from any legislative assembly leaves his position vacant (due to death, resignation etc.) elections for that one person will be held.- This person is so elected and remains in position for the unexpired term of the house.
That depends on the location of the election and what type of election it is. In some countries, assembly elections are held on general schedule (i.e.) the US, ever 4 years) and in others, parliamentary elections can be held at any time (i.e.) the UK).Australia has an election approx every 2 to 4 years.

They generally meet every weekday (Monday-Friday) through the Spring months, however as the year continues through the summer and fall, the Assembly meets less and less until finally around October it is mainly just exhibitions and sports matches. It is not often they have meetings in December, and usually finish their year around late October, early November.
