Spider plants should be in a container with good drainage, and kept moist. Only let the surface of the soil dry out between watering.

Dried out soil with a spider plant will result in brown, dry tips of the leaves, and eventually leaf yellowing.

So long as your container has good drainage, this is one houseplant that can be watered frequently - just do not let the pot sit in a saucer of water for more than one hour, its bulbous roots can rot.

The spider plant needs to dry out between watering, they have roots that suck up all the water and store it.
