I change mine, faithfully, every 5,000 miles. And I use nothing but full synthetic oil. I know this is sooner than the manufacturer recommends, but, it's very cheap insurance against future engine problems. I plan on getting at least a million miles out of this engine, so I'm pretty particular about how it's treated.
