The Bridgeport Organ Company operated in Bridgeport, Connecticut (USA) from the late 1870ies to around 1905. There are very few records left, so deducing age from serial number is impossible. But you could open the casing and remove a reed - most reeds have the year of manufacture stamped onto them.

Our Bridgeport organ is serial number 39018 and was made in 1888 (numbers were not necessarily used subsequently, though).

How old is a bridgeport parlor organ with two pump pedels 11 buttons and 36 keys made of oak wood?

The Bridgeport Organ Company operated in Bridgeport, Connecticut (USA) from the late 1870ies to around 1905. There are very few records left about the company, but you could open the casing and remove a reed - most reeds have the year of manufacture stamped onto them. 36 keys is a small, portable organ. If that is correct, it is rare, since Bridgeport didn't mass-produce them.

How old are bridgeport pump organs?

The company was in business from about 1877 until just after the turn of the century. I was born in Bpt. CT. so when I found an organ while I was living in Ohio I bought it. My husbands grandfather lived to be 101 and he remembered the empty factory. I contacted the historical society in Bridgeport in the 1990's and they sent me a copy of a newspaper article about the Bpt. Pump Organ Co. They were the first factory in the area to install Edisons new "incandescent candles" I assume that meant electric lights.
