Rabbits will naturally start to wean from their mothers milk at between 5 and 6 weeks of age, they are able to eat by themselves (without milk) at about 7-8 weeks. This is why it is so important rabbits are not removed from their mother too soon.

Mother rabbit feed their kits only 1 or 2 times a day, usually early in the morning or at dusk. The kits nurse for only a couple mins ( 3 to 5 mins)

The gestation period is 21 days to 23 days.

Twenty four hours after they are born they are 1 day old.

The gestation period isn't counted as far as how old they are once they are born.

Baby rats can leave their mum at around 4 and a half weeks and boys must be separated from girls at the same time. Baby rats can leave for new homes from 5 weeks providing they are eating and drinking well on their own but from 6 weeks is probably the best age to let them leave.

Baby cockatiels are completely dependent on either the parent bird, or a human handfeeder for the first five weeks. If being hand-fed and hand-reared, they will begin eating less formula and going more for food placed in front of them. The chicks wean completely between 8 and 10 weeks of age.

If you are hand-rearing a chick, remember that it is more important to overfeed them than to underfeed them. They should be fed a minimum of every three hours, at least from dawn until late at night, with specially prepared baby cockatiel formula. They will begin to become a little more independent after 5 weeks or so, but it is important to keep up the feeding even if they seem less interested.
