The oldest plane they have is 11.7 years old, but most of their planes are fairly new. They have orders placed in for 262 new 737's, so they are keeping up-to-date with their aircraft.

Can a 13 year old accompany a 5 year old on Southwest Airlines?

The regulations are not clear on this. The 13 year old can travel as a youth passenger without an adult. Whether they can be the supervision for the 5 year old is open to interpretation. They may still have to pay an Unaccompanied Minor fee as there is not an adult traveling with them. Your best bet would be to call Southwest and ask them.
