Seahorses have a high birthrate and a low survival rate. The male gives birth and is ready for more eggs the moment the releases his last one into the water. Because of this, seahorses pretty much give birth from the time the hit maturity and start mating and on. Gestation lasts anywhere from 4 days to 14 weeks and birth lasts up to 12 hours and then the cycle repeats.
