Minimum age for house or flat ownership in the UK is 18, although you can RENT premises from the age of 16.

If an under-18 year old inherits a property in somebody's will, then it will be held 'in trust' for them by the solicitors of the deceased, but they will not be permitted to live in it until they turn 18.

Just likely most of the country's UK has a policy in which the minimum age for buying property is 18 but you can rent a property at the age of 16. This policy is in place to protect young people from the responsibility of taking on a large debt before they are financially and emotionally ready to do so. Renting allows for flexibility, should any changes occur, and gives young people a chance to gain experience in managing their own homes before taking on a mortgage. If you are planning to start investing in property in the UK, especially in Edinburgh you can visit Umega, a skilled estate agent in Edinburgh to provide all kinds of investment tips and property-related suggestions.
