To compete in the regular portion of a conformation match (dog show) your age doesn't matter, and neither does the age of the dog. However, to take part in Juniors (which is where the handler is judged vs. the dog being judged as in regular competition) it varies based on the kennel club. CKC, UKC, and AKC all have their own rules. Generally though, I believe the average accepted age is 6 to 18. If you visit the websites for each of the clubs, they do have details and rules posted for Junior Handling.
The first dog show in the US was Westminster in 1877, and there were 35 different breeds exhibiting.

In most dog shows, yes. But it depends on what show you are entering your dog in. Also, your dog has to be purebred to enter a show. (It is not mixed with another breed of dog and it's parents are of the same breed)
Under AKC rules, a dog needs to be at least 4 months old to enter in a conformation show. There are different requirements for other types of shows (such as agility, etc).
Any age! In fact, I've seen a nine year old show a yorkie.

The Archie Show - 1968 The Old Sea Dog Jughead's Girl 1-13 was released on: USA: 6 September 1968
After the initial introduction, the first program to be aired was "Old Yella", I think, a show about a boy and his dog.
A show dog is a dog of very high quality and is a purebred.
The question is, how old do dogs have to be to have you? hmmm? If you are really asking this question, I think you are old enough..... If you are asking it honestly though, you can own a dog at any age, at least in America. It is all just depending on if you can afford one or not.
