I don't know if it's the same but in Alberta you have to be 12. It was 14, but got changed when there was a high demand for employees. Although that demands not so high, the age has remained. However, there are restrictions for youth between the ages of 12 - 15 (like how many hours, and how late the youth can work) because of these restrictions a lot of places don't hire before the age 16.
