Does anyone realize that the Captain Cook sound is a very close copy of Billy Vaughn's immensely popular late 50s recordings?

The very popular "Captain Cook und Seine Singenden Saxophone (German pop instrumental band) has made a career of copying the Billy Vaughn orchestral sound from the late 1950s/early 60s. In fact some of Captain Cook's popular albums are titled "Ich denk so gern an Billy Vaughn" and "Da tanzten wir zu Billy Vaughn". Captain Cook has also recorded many of the Billy Vaughn hits, some of which were No 1 and 2 on the German hit parade: Sail Along Silvry Moon, La Paloma, Aloha Oe, Morgen, etc. Many more of the Billy Vaughn hits have been recorded by Captain Cook in the same style. A couple of CDS even include a "Billy Vaughn Medley". If you'd like to hear what the originals sound like look for the Repertoire 2 CD set "the Best of Billy Vaughn". The biggest difference is the full orchestra Vaughn used. Many of his best recordings feature trumpet and piano leads, strings, guitars, etc....not just the twin sax sound. The multi sax sound is in evidence on all Captain Cook recordings.
