the motor is a 1967 outboard

The model number J50BELCRM indicates that your Johnson outboard motor was manufactured in 1991. The "B" in the model number typically designates the year of manufacture, with "B" corresponding to 1991 in the Johnson outboard motor coding system.
1988
A Johnson outboard, model number CD24D is a 1967 model, 6 hp engine.

I have three of them. That model was made in 1954 and 1955.
