Otis Amber is a mysterious and eccentric character in "The Westing Game." He is a private investigator hired to look into the Westing murder case, but his constant coughing and odd behavior lead others to question his credibility. Despite his quirks, Otis proves to be essential in unraveling the secrets of the Westing mansion.

Otis Amber "stands out" in different parts throughout the book. Firstly, whenever he enters, he exclaims. "Otis Amber is here!" It makes him stand out, in many situations. Also, Otis Amber turns out to be a private investigator, and was actually disguised as the 62-year old delivery man. At the end, in Turtle's trial, Otis Amber explained who hired him as the investigator.
Otis Amber changed in "The Westing Game" by becoming more involved in trying to solve the mystery of Samuel Westing's death. Initially portrayed as a delivery man uninterested in the game, he eventually reveals his true identity as a private investigator and actively works with the other heirs to uncover the truth. His transformation shows that appearances can be deceiving and that everyone has the potential to surprise others.

(J.J Ford, Josie-Jo Ford) hired Otis Amber, a private investigator, who was disguised as a 62-year old delivery boy, who visited Sunset Towers, and later married Berthe Erica Crow(Sam Westing's former wife), so he could investigate, or spy on, all 16 heirs. He investigated all of them, but not Sandy McSouthers, or the Judge. Otis Amber was also hired by Barney Northrup and Samuel Westing.
Crow wears black and is VERY religious! She is a resident of Sunset Towers and works as the maid there. Later on, they determine that she had a bad past... drinking and troubled... but became inspired to be religious. However, this is made up. She is truly Sam Westing's old wife solving the Westing Game mystery!
Judge Ford is in her seventies in "The Westing Game."
