Please indicate what model number of Winchester goes with that serial number,so I may answer your question.
Winchester started using the letter G in the year 1970 for the model 70 bolt action rifle.
All Winchester model 70 rifles should have the letter G before the serial number, starting in the year 1970 at serial number G941901.If your rifle has this, then it was made in the year 1977.
The G3 rifle can chamber the 7.62x51 NATO cartridge, and it could chamber the .308 Winchester if it needed to. No other cartridges are compatible with this rifle.
With the serial number G 2,037,985 being he last serial number of the year 1991,I would assume that your Winchester model 70 rifle was made between the years 1993-1995.
G prefix=1950.
The G prefix to your serial number shows that it is a model 70 Winchester rifle. It should say this on the barrel of your rifle.
Please check your information and repost. The Winchester M37 is a 12 g pump shotgun.
The sn you list does not have enough digits.
I have to admit I am a little confused by your serial number. My records indicate that the winchester model 70 did not have the G prefix until after 1968,but your serial number provided by you indicates that your winchester model 70 rifle was made in 1966.
Are we to assume it is the Model 70 Ranger rifle since it has the G prefix? If so, mid 1980's. sales@countrygunsmith.net
My serial numbers go up to 2,037,985 which end in 1991.I would say that your Winchester model 70 rifle was made sometime during the years 1997-1998.
I can say that it was made sometime after 1991.That year ended with serial number G 2037985.
