Get the date code stamped on the barrel and look on the Remington Society of America for manufacturing date page, also has diagram of location if you can't find them.

The Remington Model 572 Fieldmaster slide action .22 caliber rifle was made from 1955 until 1988. The receiver on your rifle was made in 1980 but may not have been assembled into a rifle until 1981 or 82.

Between 100-200 dollars in the condition that you describe. Additionally ALL 572's have serial no's if it doesn't it's real questionable, I doubt a dealer would touch it.
The RemingtonModel 121 fieldmaster was introduce in 1936 and discontinued in 1954
I do believe it is manufactured post 1968, pre "68 rifles id not usually require a serial number. I own an older 572a with no s/n. It's date code stamped on the barrel, see related links for information on the Remington Society of America.

They were introduced in late 1954 but didn't start serial numbers until 1967 when the law required it then in 1968 they started the "a" prefix of and starting with a1400000 where they continued until a1999999 and then went to b1400000.
