Old Longview Lake was constructed in the early 1900's part of RA Longs farm. The lake was used to supply water to the farm by pumping water from the nearby Little Blue River (now Longview Lake) into the lake then pumping from the lake northward up to the water tower (now located within the Amli apartments).
A Pergola structure still stands from the original construction circa 1915. The Lake was also used as a picturesque scene from the mansion and for recreational boating. A boathouse used to exist near the southwest corner of the lake.
