It depends entirely on the holy book. Some are over 4000 years old (such as the Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead) and some are less than a century old (such as Dianetics in Scientology).
New and old. The old is a modified Jewish holy book, the new one is the Christian holy book ... mostly written by Paul.
