I don't know the answer to that, but my purebred seal point is going on 20 years old! :)
Sassy, the cat in the Homeward Bound movie, was a Himalayan cat.
Seal point and blue point are coat colors. Breeds that may exhibit these colorations include Siamese, Burmese and Himalayan.
Himalayan cats are a cross between Persians and Siamese They are known for dark coloration on their ears, feet, body and tail. This dark coloration is called point. This is why Himalayan cats are often described as being a "lilac point" or a "chocolate point." There is also the cream point, blue point, seal point, lilac tor tie point, blue tor tie point, red lynx point, lilac lynx point, blue tor tie lynx point, and finally; the chocolate lynx point.
They are usually pointed. It will either be a blue point, which is when the feet, ears, tail, and face are 'blue', chocolate point, which is when they have chocolate color on the face, ears, tail, and legs, cream/flame point, which is when the colors can get close, like hot creams and light reds, or seal points, which is when they have seal brown color on the points. Seal brown is darker than chocolate. :)
Some interesting qualities of the Himalayan cat are its long fur and 'flat' or pushed-in face. The breed also comes in many points- certain colors. The points are chocolate point, flame point, tortie-cream point, lilac point, blue point, seal point, and much more. It was first 'produced' in the 1950s, when crossing a Siamese cat with a Persian cat.
The main difference between chocolate point and seal point Siamese cats is the color of their fur. Chocolate point Siamese cats have a lighter, more milk-chocolate colored fur, while seal point Siamese cats have a darker, more seal-like fur color. Additionally, chocolate point Siamese cats may have lighter blue eyes compared to the darker blue eyes of seal point Siamese cats.
Seal point cats have dark brown points on their ears, face, paws, and tail, while chocolate point cats have lighter brown points. Additionally, seal point cats have a darker overall coat color compared to chocolate point cats.
Seal point and Siamese cats are actually the same breed. The term "seal point" refers to a specific color pattern within the Siamese breed. Siamese cats can come in different color points, such as seal, chocolate, blue, and lilac. The main difference between seal point and other Siamese cats is the color of their points, which are dark brown on a lighter body.
The main difference between a Chocolate Point Siamese and a Seal Point Siamese cat is the color of their fur. Chocolate Point Siamese have a lighter, milk-chocolate colored fur with darker brown points on their ears, face, paws, and tail. Seal Point Siamese, on the other hand, have a darker, seal-brown colored fur with dark brown points. Additionally, Chocolate Point Siamese tend to have a slightly more rounded face compared to the more angular face of Seal Point Siamese.
Himilayan cat is a type of Persian cat that was bred down by the Persians and only has seal point colors; for example Siamese. On the other hand a Persian cat would have other color patterns. So the difference is based on the patterns.
Possibly hundreds. The most numerous, of course, are the domestic shorthair cats, but many households have Persian, Siamese, Himalayan, Maine Coon, Agora, Ragdoll, or Exotic Shorthair, to name those which I am personally acquainted with. There are also rarer varieties like Turkish Water Cats, Egyptian Sphynx, and Cornish Rex. There are also finer variations; Siamese and Himalayan come in Seal-point, Chocolate-point, Blue-point, Orange-point, and Cloud-point, if I recall correctly, and I may be missing a few. And of course there are the inevitable cross breeds. Most books on domestic cats will list a number of the different varieties.
Chocolate point and seal point cats are both types of Siamese cats with distinct color patterns. Chocolate point cats have a lighter, milk-chocolate colored body with darker brown points on their ears, face, paws, and tail. Seal point cats, on the other hand, have a darker, seal-like brown body with dark brown points. The main difference between the two is the shade of brown in their fur.
