The Palacio Real de Madrid (The Royal Palace of Madrid), also known as the Palacio de Oriente (The Orient Palace, or Far East Palace), is the official residence of the King of Spain in the city of Madrid, but it is only used for state ceremonies. King Juan Carlos and the Royal Family do not reside in the palace, choosing instead the more modest Palacio de la Zarzuela on the outskirts of Madrid. See the related link for images.

It is used only for state occasions The Palace of Zarzuela is the principle residence of the King and his family. El Pardo Palace is for the use of foreign state guests while the Moncloa Palace is the residence of the President of the Spanish Government
