The title Duke of Cambridge has been conferred on members of the British Royal Family several times.

The first was Charles Stuart, son of James Stuart, Duke of York and later King James II. He was styled Duke of Cambridge but never formally created Duke because he died aged 6 months in 1661.

James Stuart's second son, also called James, was created Duke of Cambridge by his uncle, King Charles II, in 1664, and he died in 1667 aged 3 years.
