Dumbledore came into possession of the wand by beating it's previous owner, Gellert Grindlewald. The wand then became Draco's Malfoy's because Draco was supposed to kill Dumbledore. Nobody was aware of this until the wand had already passed to Harry who had stolen Draco's wand from him.
