Mozart was performing regularly in public by age 5. His sister, Nannerl, started almost as early. It is sometimes written that he was four when he started, but that is because his entrepreneurial father shaved a year off his age when presenting him.
how old was mozart at his first public performance
It is unknown how old Beethoven was when he first started playing, but his first public performance was in 1778, when he was not even eight years old. See the related link for details.
First of all, "What instruments did Mozart" is not a complete question. If anyone would like to know what instruments did Mozart play/compose for, here's the answer:The Harpsichord/Organ/ClavierViolin/Viola (the cello is basically the same thing...)Clarinet/OboeFlute/HarpTrumpet (on very rare occasions)Mozart (27 January 1756---5 December 1791) composed over six hundred works for a variety of instruments. (in a short lifespan of just 36 years...!)(P.S. Those are all the instruments played by this brilliant composer I could possibly think of!)
You can find Mozart's music (along with that of many, many other composers who are in the public domain) at www.imslp.org.
Mozart played the 'fortepiano' - the forerunner of the modern piano. He was virtuosic and gave frequent perfornances of his own compositions, for example his subscription concertos - often playing from memory. He was also an adept improviser at the piano and this was on display in the cadenzas of his concertos.
Beethoven composed his first piece of music, which was a song (lieder) at the age of 11. This means he started writing music in 1781. In 1787, he started to receive his first composition lessons, from Mozart.

Yes, he's one of the best artists in history. I personally love the Turkish March he composed.
