Myths do not say.
Hades asked his brother Zeus if he could have Persephone for his bride, to this Zeus agreed without consulting Demeter or Persephone - Hades than took her, and Demeter showed her wrath until she got her daughter back, except Persephone had eaten of the pomegranate and had to return to Hades for half the year, this causes Demeter to make the land cold and barren (i.e. winter). Persephone return brings about spring.
i think it was because he didn't have a wife but when he had persephone he got a little more caring
No, but there is a story similar to that. In the Greek myth of Persephone, she is tricked into becoming Hades' wife by being tricked to eat a pomegranate, the fruit of the dead, and that is probably where you got this question.
Hades, the god of the underworld, stole Demeter's daughter Persephone. Demeter got her back, but she had eaten 6 pomegranite seeds in the Underworld, so now she has to spend 6 months with Hades every year. Demeter is the goddess of the harvest, and she lets everything die while her daughter is away from her.
She was not married. She got her daughter Persephone and another boy through a love affair with Zeus, her brother. Persephone is more well known because of her incident with Hades. :)
Persephone got kidnapped by Hades which is the god of the underworld so therefore Persephone was made queen of the underworld

At first she was. She was very upset, scared, and miserable. But I do believe she has come to love her husband once she got over the initial 'being kidnapped' thing. Hades did not kidnap her for the sake of being creepy and scary. Zeus, Persephone's father, promised her hand in marriage to Hades. But Zeus neglected to tell Persephone or her mother Demeter about this. So when Hades came to claim his bride it turned into an abduction.
He didn't have much choice. He was struck full in the chest by one of Cupid's love arrows. Persephone just happened to be in the vicinity when he got hit and he carried her away. Hades was one of the big three of the Olympiad and even Zeus declined from confronting him directly on the matter -- so Hades was married.
Demeter was not consulted about it, her daughter had been kidnapped by her husband Hades - which Hades had gotten the permission of Zeus first.

I think she carried a basket so that she could pick her beautiful flowers before she got forced to marry Hades.
Persephone was the personification of spring. She was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, the goddess of plants. Hades stole her from her mother and took her to the Underworld. Demeter reacted by allowing all the plants to die until she got her daughter back. Zeus finally made Hades return Persephone. However since she had swallowed six seeds, she had to spend six months of the year with Hades and the other six she would be with her mother. So that is why most plants die in winter.

It is unclear where Exactly Persephone got Cerebus. But Greek Mythology says that Cerberus was the offspring of Typhaon, the last of the titans, and Echidna, the half beautiful woman, half vicious snake. Cerberus is the Greek underworld beast which guards the gates of Hades.
