Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo died from complications of a broken leg which he obtained from fighting with a few fierce natives of the island he discovered. However, the ironic thing is that he did not break his leg in combat, he got it by tripping when running away from the natives.
He left Spain on June 27, 1542 and the ship got back April 1543, but he didn't make it back with the ship. He fell and died Jan.23, 1543.
Oh, dude, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo faced challenges like trying to navigate the treacherous waters of the Pacific Ocean without GPS or Google Maps, dealing with scurvy (not the best side effect of a sea voyage), and probably getting annoyed by seagulls pooping on his ship. But hey, at least he got to discover California, so it wasn't all bad, right?
He broke his leg while he was landing the ship. The bone broke skin, got infected and he died.
He traveled because he wanted to become famous.First he traveled to Cuba inabout 1520.Then, in 1541, he was ordered by the spanish ruler to explore the californian coast. Then, the year after that, his ships got blown over. Hope this answered your question!
Cabrillo's goal was to find the mythical city of Cibola or "The City of Gold" but he never did. Instead he came upon what is now present day California. Cabrillo got as far as the Channel Islands because of bad weather
