Nothing changes without changing something.

Many of our children suffer from obesity or weight issues due to too much sugar in their diet.

It can be tough, but cutting down on sweetened drinks and sugar laden foods will help, and eating more natural meats, vegetables and nuts etc.

Child obesity is far too big of a problem to ignore, and unfortunately, we are setting our kids up for lifelong weight problems unless we start changing the foods they eat.

Here are some ways ,

Get rid most junk food in the house . Kids will automatic go to that choice.

Convince them that vegetables can be enjoyable .

Don't feel guilty every time they ask for junk food . Try to keep them away from high amounts of sugar.

Make sure that they get at least one hour of exercise a day! It's very important that they stay active ! Set a time for TV and computer and make sure that they aren't on the couch all day. Courage them to play with friends. And if your only thinking of one child but you have to or more , make sure that they are all treated the same to prevent fights.

Also , a good tip is to ease into it so they don't get mad! Good luck!

From a young age, children should be offered a wide range of healthy food options and kept away from processed food with little nutrition to train their tastes to like the better choices. Limit the amount of sugar based foods (sugared cereals, candy, cookies and baked good) and drinks (sodas and powdered drinks). As well, limit the higher fat contents by baking instead of frying foods and reading labels for percentage of fat in items. Provide healthy snacks like fruit and nuts and yogurt.

Besides the food they eat children need exercise. Instead of watching television or sitting in front of a computer game have them go outside and play ball with friends or ride a bicycle.

Influence them with their eating habits.

Parents hold the key to reducing child obesity, and it is up to us to set a good example for our kids by eating more healthily.

We also need to influence and better understand what they eat, and most importantly, we need to eat more natural (unprocessed foods) and reuce sugar in our diet.

These tow things along with some exercise if that is possible will all make a positive difference for children in reducing child obesity.

They are largely at fault, though not completely at fault. As children get older they have some responsibility themselves, but if they have not been guided right from early on by their parents, it will be more difficult for them.

How long does child obesity last?

The World Health Organization (WHO) suggests that unless corrected, obese children go on in to adult lives with ongoing weight problems, and it is also a fact that Obesity is the reason for far too many premature deaths and or disabilities world wide. The WHO also confirms that child obesity (in fact obesity in general) is completely preventable. So, in answering your question, - it lasts as long as we (parents and guardians) allow it to. We need to make changes to diets sooner rather than later to make any difference to child obesity.
