Best Answer

When Pterodactylus hatched, they either survived off of a yolk sack or were fed by their parents for just a few days until their wings developed enough that they could fly. Then they would fend for themselves. They would fly to hunt insects until they became large enough to hunt fish, lizards, amphibians, and primitive mammals. If a predator attacked, they would fly away, like a bird. At night they probably slept in trees to stay safe from predators.

Pterodactyls, or pterosaurs adapted by evolving a clever way of escape, one that is still used today by most birds, flight. But unlike a bird pterosaurs did not have feathers, but skin that streched from wing tip to near the foot.

It has a long slender beak for catching fish and small land animals such as lizards and large insects. Plus it was the only animal with wings!
