While both Garmin and Skycaddie are companies which make electronics devices that use GPS, the function is completely different. Garmin mainly makes GPSs for vehicles while Skycaddie uses its GPS technology to help golfers on the golf course.
A Skycaddie costs could range from $100 to $350. How the skycaddie works is it uses GPS (also known as the Global Positioning System) to pinpoint your location and the distance to the target when playing golf.
A SkyCaddie is the #1 range finder in golf. Only SkyCaddie mappers walk every course using sub-meter, survey grade equipment to record critical distances to hazards, layups and green targets for the most complete and reliable distance information available to amateurs. A Tour Caddie would never trust distances derived from aerial images or flyover and neither should you.
SkyCaddie GPS's are available from the SkyGolf website as well as numerous golf stores. It is also available on websites such as eBay, Amazon, and Overstock.
You can find the user guide for SkyCaddie SG5 on the SkyGolf website in the support or downloads section. You can also try searching for the user guide on online retailers or tech forums for golf GPS devices.
Although a limited number of brands, such as skycaddie, currently offer the skygolf gps system, they are currently working on offering this system on a dozen new brands by the end of 2012.

GPS systems tell it's customer where to go. Hopefully, this GPS system is reliable in it's ability to know exactly where it's customer is and where exactly it is going.
I think most gps systems are quite reliable if you learn how to use them properply. The tomtom use to be the most reliable one and then competinion came out and many are just as good.
It gives you front , center and back of the green. It can't measure to the pin. But you can move the cross hair to the pin position and this will reflect as center. I have a SG4 and love it.
