In all the time I've spent here in the Sunfire group, I've never heard anything about that transmission failing. I know that's not much of a recommendation, so take it for what it's worth.
My '96 has the 4 speed auto. The car has 204,000 miles on the clock and the transmission has never hiccuped.
Check the fluid periodically and don't beat the car up too badly. I would guess that the transmission might be trouble free for a long time.
700r4 if it is a 4speed auto Thanks 1202208751
one of three. c6 3speed auto. aod 4speed with overdrive. or a 5 speed manual
the sunfire auto trans has no drain plug. You must drop the pan.
I am assuming you are talking about an auto trans. If so it may not have one. Look at the top of the trans there may be a red cap.
National Tire & Battery is a reliable place that will change your transmission fluid for you. They can also test your transmission fluid to let you know if it needs changing.
The 2002 E2.2L engine 4speed auto does not have a transmission dipstick!! To check the fluid level you have to go under the car and unscrew and remove a threaded plug in the transmission pan. The car must be level when you do this. After you remove the plug, check to see if any transmission fluid is dripping from the hole. If there is then you don't need transmission fluid. If it is not dripping fluid you need to add some. You add fluid until it begins dripping from the hole. You then replace the plug. To add fluid you must find and unscrew a threaded cap found by looking under the hood on the driver's side on top of the transmission. Sometimes the cap is red and sometimes it is black. You may find it easier to go to a quick oil change place and get them to check it for you.
There are a number of reliable auto companies in the world, however most reliable is usually a personal choice. Some reliable auto companies include Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge.
I could be wrong but what it sounds like to me is what is called the servo covers located just above the trans pan on the right hand side
Reliable auto windscreens should be purchased or at least inquired upon at your most reliable auto service center. Then they should be installed by a realiable service center.
Can I replace my auto transmission with a maual transmission in my 94 trooper
If it's an auto transmission, it could be that the shift linkage is out of adjustment and is not putting the car into gear properly. Or, you may be low on fluid. Check that at the fill plug on the side of the transmission. If it's a standard, you probably need a new clutch.
Look at the gear stick, if its auto then you have an auto transmission, if its manual you have a manual transmission.
