1)remove battery cables, remove battery for more hand room.
2)ratchet out two lower bolts holding alternator in bracket.
3)remove small bolt on left top of alternator.
4)un-bolt the wires behind alternator. Pull wire harness out from left side of alternator.
5)put a wrench on tensioner pully and pry so you can pull serpentine belt off.
6)DO NOT REMOVE belt from all of the pullies, if you do not intend to replace it. Putting one back on is not hard, but not easy.
7)on left side of alternator there is a space between bottom of alternator and bracket. Insert a large screwdriver or hub cap bar and gently pry alternator up and out from bracket. DONE!
8) to replace new alternator. do all of above in reverse. 1 hour job.

Remove the belt from your 2001 Chevy S 10 pickup truck alternator. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new alternator.
An alternator from a 2000 Chevy blazer will fit a 2002 S10 blazer with a little fabrication.
You need to remove the lower transmission inspection cover.
You failed to mention what year the S10 is but, most of them use a fusible link to protect the alternator circuit.
